D. Traditional Hunting Decoys: Field or Stick-up
This division includes all decoys of field or marsh that are not floated, but are deployed by means of a stake or wire set in the ground. Acceptable entries: ducks, geese, confidence decoys, doves, pigeons, jacksnipe, turkeys, owls, crows, etc. Carvers may enter a variety of these species, but each entry shall consist of a single bird. Entries will be judged by the rules of Service Class, with respect to sturdy construction, functional detail, serviceable painting. All species to compete equally, and may be represented by silhouettes, stick-up heads, full bodied decoys, flyers and other moveables. Contestants must provide stands for upright display. Awards: Best Decoy = Rosette.
E. Bob Petersen Gunning Shorebirds
Entries must be handmade of wood and mounted on a detachable single wooden dowel. The length of the dowel should be long enough to enable the decoy to be held upright for judging. Although shorebirds may not be textured, fancy painting is allowed. No fragile wingtips, bills or tails are allowed. The $500 purchase award goes to the winning carver. The winning carving goes to the sponsor.
F. Decorative Life Size Wildfowl Carvings
Open, Intermediate and Novice
These highly decorative carvings shall be mainly of wood, except where strength is needed for support. Entries must be full bodied or part of an environmental composition. Awards: Open Best of Show - Medallion + $75, 2nd Best of Show $50, 3rd Best of Show $25. Intermediate and Novice - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Best of Show = Rosette.
G. Decorative Miniature Wildfowl Carvings
Open, Intermediate and Novice
The same rules as Decorative Life Size carvings shall apply with the addition that these carvings can be less, but not larger than 1 / 2 life size. Maximum body length of six inches, excluding neck and tail. Awards: Open Best of Show - Medallion + $50.. Intermediate and Novice - Best of Show = Rosette + $50 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Best of Show = Rosette.
